Satellite Tv - A Few Things The Andy Griffith Show Gave Us

Andy Griffith was born in1926. People have loved him mostly for the role of Andy Taylor that he played on his hit sit com series, The Andy Griffith show during the 1960's. Griffith was first known for some popular movies he played in, A Face in the Crowd, which he starred in and also a terrific comedy, No Time for Sergeants.

The Andy Griffith show was actually created because of a one time episode that Griffith appeared on in The Danny Thomas show. He played a sheriff in a town called Mayberry. We know most of what happened after that. There are probably not many people who have not seen and loved this show. The show ran from 1960 until 1967.

The content of the show was based on family values with comedic situations. This was a common type of programming during the 1960's. The show had several characters that were helpful with its overall success.

Don Knotts, who played Andy's best friend and deputy, Barney Fife, was a tremendous asset to the comedic portions of the scripts. He was a serious, hard core deputy who took his job very seriously, but inevitably bungled almost everything he tried to do. While Griffith was surprisingly never nominated for an Emmy award, Knotts won many for his role.

Jim Nabors, alias Gomer Pyle, played the town mechanic until he left the show to pursue his own comedy show, Gomer Plye, USMC. The new town mechanic was Gomer's cousin Goober, played by George Lindsey. Lindsey later went on to become a regular on the hit comedy show Hee Haw.

One of the biggest things that we all eventually got from the Andy Griffith show was Ron Howard. Howard played Andy's son Opie on the show. He was a cute and loveable, freckled faced, red haired boy who always ended up doing the right thing. His remorseful little face is the expression of sorrow that all parents want to see their children have when they have made mistakes.

Ron Howard went on to star in the 1070's hit comedy, Happy Days. This show ran for many seasons and was very popular. No one has ever forgotten Fonzie, played by Henry Winkler.

Howard has ended up becoming one of the best movie directors of our time. It seems everything he touches turns to Gold. He has directed all these box office hits Splash, Back Draft, Apollo 13, A beautiful mind, Cinderella Man, and the huge success The Da Vinci Code
